Paul Eenhoorn in the New York Times
While your editor has been on a moving-across-the-country hiatus, our friend and actor Paul Eenhoorn has been in the ‘buzz’. We’re a little late on the uptake due to the hiatus, but here he is landing ontop the NY Times Arts Section for a second time, with a half-page featured article inside.

Read all about it!

Genius Nominee, Paul Eenhoorn, Displays Winning Invitation.
Paul Eenhoorn Nominated for Genius Award
Well! Look who has popped further into prominence. Seattle’s Stranger Magazine honors our own with Genius awards each year. And the nominees are all notified via cake. (I guess you can have your cake and eat it too.) Two recently prominent Indie Films have catapulted Paul to this status (among other contributions). Read about it all here: http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2014/05/15/the-2014-genius-award-nominees-are
There’s an old interview posted on this blog somewhere… but where, eludes me now. Can’t find it. Wait! Here it is! https://schn00dles.wordpress.com/2010/05/03/im-not-going-any-deeper-than-that-ill-start-to-cry/

This just broke! It was learned less than one minute ago that the cake was chocolate.

Troupe Comique to Make a Movie
While shooting promo photos for the upcoming Midnight Mystery Theater, (Coming to the Eclectic Theater in May. Watch for it!), Mystery Theater writer/director and producer John Ruoff, revealed in a private chat that he was planning to produce a full length silent movie utilizing the Theater Comique players. This is all he was wont to say. (And, of course, it’s just about useless speaking to a mime, except to say that they appeared very excited!)

Editor’s Note: Here we go! Follow Paul as his star ascends…
And This is What Happens Next…
“Saturday, Jan. 18, 11:00 a.m. — Downstairs, Main Street, Park CityThe place is packed, elbow-to-elbow traffic both upstairs and down, grinning businesspeople and harried publicists doting on idling celebrities waiting to get their pictures taken and then do it all again next door. This is just the first stop in a string of semi-cozy publisher-run DMVs, where people wait in long lines to have their photos taken in requisite initiation. Having a movie at Sundance is a great honor, but even more so, it’s exhausting; the march up and down the mountainous Main Street for brief and transactional press spots and photo shoots can leave you gasping for your breath and sanity.” – Paul Eenhoorn

Editor’s Note: Do you remember when we first met Paul, here? His latest film, “Land Ho!” has been picked up by Sony for distribution.

And Now, For The Good News
“Toasts are given and glasses clinked, everyone just floating on air, semi-delirious from sleep deprivation but focused on just how great this whole thankless business can be when you work your ass off and do things right. Eenhoorn, who earlier in the day was feeding off a feeling of vindication, is now just exuberant, discussing everything from ideas he has for his own directorial efforts to, at one point, giving his best impression of Al Pacino reciting “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”
The gruff, singsong impression is actually not half-bad. He’s all smiles tonight, optimistic about his future and glad, he says, that he stuck it out in this business.
Christina Jennings, one of the producers on the film, opens up about her pending decision to move to Iceland; never before has she felt such a spiritual connection with a piece of land, she says.
The movie has really changed everyone’s lives.” – Paul Eenhoorn (written on Facebook)

Paul Eenhoorn Surfaces in Iceland!
Editor’s Note: I’ll bet none of you who have been wondering what Paul Eenhoorn is up to, guessed that he might be shooting a new movie in Iceland! He’s ripping it up onscreen as one of a pair of old duffers out to celebrate a friendship in a quite out of the way place. Look for it at Sundance!
Land Ho!’ Poster Premiere: This Is the Sundance Movie You Definitely Want to Party With
By Alison Nastasi Jan 13, 2014

Two ex-brothers-in-law (This Is Martin Bonner’s Paul Eenhoorn and Eastbound & Down’s Earl Lynn Nelson) set off on an Iceland vacation to reclaim their youth; dipping their toes in the Reykjavik nightclub scene, visiting trendy spas, dining at daring restaurants and communing at rugged campsites. What starts as a raucous adventure becomes a journey of self-discovery.
Land Ho! is the latest producing project from lyrical indie-film favorite David Gordon Green, directed by Martha Stephens (Pilgrim Song, Passenger Pigeons) and Aaron Katz (Cold Weather, Quiet City). The endearing tale is part 1980s raucous road comedy, part sensitive and charming portrait of aging à la an edgier Strangers in Good Company for men. Interestingly enough, Nelson, who wasn’t formally trained as an actor, plays a brazen surgeon in the film. He’s also a practicing surgeon in his offscreen life as well. Nelson’s improvisational, naturalistic style caught the eye of Green when he appeared in Stephens’ Passenger Pigeons.
We have the poster premiere for Land Ho!, which teases a bit of that lovely Icelandic landscape and the refreshingly genuine and fun bond Eenhoorn and Nelson share throughout the film. The witty work will make its debut at this year’s Sundance Film Festival on January 19.
